July 3 Featured Vendor: The Stick Up

This week's Featured Vendor is our very own ice pop stand, The Stick Up! This is The Stick Up's first year at GSM. We had a lovely chat with founders Becca and Amelia about their awesome ice pop business: GSM: How did you guys get your start? Amelia: We've been friends for a long time and a lot of our relationship has been based around cooking and food. We've undertaken a lot of project together- for a while, we were on the hunt for the perfect molasses cookie recipe. Popsicles are something I had been thinking about for a while and one day, we were baking pies and I just said, "Wouldn't it be fun if we started our own popsicle business and we could just make crazy flavors?" And Becca was j

Community Shares Celebrates 5th Year

Back in 2012, we had an idea. What if we could buy produce from our farmers and then give it away to food insecure families? We made a plan and amazingly, we got a grant! We decided to call the program Community Shares. Its mission is to increase the amount of locally grown, fresh produce consumed by Rogers Park's food insecure families. In the photo, you're seeing two of our new participants at our very first food distribution of the 2016 season! We gave away 60 pounds of fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and eggs to 10 families. Community Shares has always been a collaborative effort. This year's partners include Glenwood Sunday Market, High Ridge YMCA, Howard Area Community Center, Jordan Co

Glenwood Sunday Market Moves One Block South June 26, 2016

Happy Pride! Each year, Glenwood Sunday Market moves one block south during Pride Weekend to accommodate the Pride North Celebration that occurs in our usual location. That means, on Sunday, June 26, you will find the market on southbound Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Farwell! Same great vendors, same hours - 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. We hope you enjoy the change of scenery and encourage you to visit the market and all of the wonderful businesses that are excitedly awaiting our visit....like Susie's Noon Hour Grill, Rogers Park Provisions, Rogers Park Social, The Sculpture Garden, Art Gallery and more. If you have any questions, just click on the wagon image and send me an email! See you there!

Thanks for the cool model of GSM, Daniel!

Daniel, age 5, is a rising 1st grader at Goudy Academy. When students in his kindergarten class were asked to build a model of something in their neighborhood, Daniel decided he wanted to show off Glenwood Sunday Market. We were able to sit down with Daniel at the last market to talk more about this project. Glenwood Sunday Market: How long have you been a Rogers Park resident? Daniel: I have lived in Rogers Park for over 5 years. GSM: Tell us a little bit about your project and what you like at Glenwood Sunday Market. Daniel: I like to go shopping for the foods I like to eat, like cookies and strawberries. I built my model from my mommy's work cards, and Q-tips. I made sure to include the m

It's Our 7th Opening Day, June 5, 2016

You'd think I'd be calm, cool and collected with a new market season starting, what with this being the 7th year for Glenwood Sunday Market. But you'd be wrong! Every passing day brings a new surge of enthusiasm, excitement, fear and worry. It's going to be so exciting to see everyone! It's going to be the best market we've ever had! But......Will people come shop? What if there's drenching rain? What if the vendors get stuck in a traffic jam somewhere? What if there are cars parked up and down the street where the market is supposed to be? Here's what I know. People will come and shop. There will be a drenching rain. Someone's going to get stuck somewhere. There will be cars parked. And we
