We are pleased to welcome applications to the Glenwood Sunday Market's 2012 Outdoor Season. Located in the heart of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District in Chicago’s vibrant Rogers Park neighborhood, our market has a genuine feeling of community and is truly the result of a grassroots effort and the ongoing support from the local Rogers Park neighborhood.
We are a "green market" and a "food and producers only" market, encouraging participation to farmers engaged in organic farming methods as well participation by farmers who are transitioning land from conventional to organic. We also welcome CSAs and prepared food vendors who are committed to using local, seasonal, sustainably produced ingredients. Our market includes a dynamic Green & Growing program to educate the public at large about local and sustainable foods, our local environment, farming, organic gardening, unique sustainable living ideas and more.
We are very proud of our Market For All Program, where we provide an immediate matching grant of up to $10.00 per market for Link/SNAP customers thus helping to make healthy, locally and sustainably grown and produced foods available to our neighbors in need and are especially thankful to LinkUP Illinois/Experimental Station for their generous grant to support this important program.
I am also pleased to announce the ground-breaking Community Shares Project, a collaboration between the Market, St. Ignatius Food Pantry and Christopher House. Generously funded by Greater Chicago Food Depository and supported by Rogers Park Business Alliance, Ald. Joe Moore, Gale Academy, Jordan Community School, New Field School, Fat Blossom Farm, Midnight Sun Farm, Montalbano Farms, this unique project will bring Community Supported Agriculture Shares to food insecure families at these three
The Glenwood Sunday Market's outdoor season is held on Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Lunt, just steps from the Morse "L" stop on the CTA's Red Line, midway between Sheridan Road and Clark Street. The 2012 -13 Indoor Winter Markets will be at The Glenwood Bar on the same block as the outdoor market. We are conveniently located for pedestrians, commuters, cyclists and motorists.
Voted Illinois' Favorite Farmers Market in 2010 and Illinois' Favorite Small Farmers Market in 2011 in the American Farmland Trust Contest, the Glenwood Sunday Market is committed to maintaining its vibrant following.
You can count on us to market your participation through weekly email blasts, blurbs on local radio, signs throughout the community, and more. We have the active support of all the major community organizations in Rogers Park.
Very truly yours,
Glenwood Sunday Market
